Alfonso V of Aragon (1394-1458), the valiant monarch of Aragon, Naples, and Sicily, is depicted in various artworks commemorating his significant conquests. One such triumph is the Conquest of Arzila in 1471, as illustrated in a tapestry series (177367-70 and 177368-70). In this scene, Alfonso is shown receiving Jaume Marquilles' book from the Counselors of Barcelona. Alfonso's image also appears on a medallion by Pisanello (15th century), showcasing his regal presence as King of Naples and Sicily. Another artwork, a bust by Pisanello (c. 1445), highlights Alfonso's strong and determined character. These masterpieces not only capture the essence of Alfonso V's reign but also serve as a testament to his military prowess and political influence.
