Step back in time and explore the rich history of carriage works, where craftsmanship and innovation converged to create masterpieces on wheels. In 1924, No 7 Shop at the Carriage Finishing Shop was abuzz with skilled artisans meticulously adding the final touches to carriages that exuded elegance and sophistication. Fast forward to 1946, and No 4 Shop became a hub of creativity at the Carriage Body Shop. Here, talented craftsmen shaped raw materials into stunning carriage bodies that would transport their passengers in style. Traveling even further back in time to 1913, No 4 Shop continued its legacy as the Carriage Body Shop. It was here that timeless carriages were born, each one a testament to meticulous attention to detail. Meanwhile, at No 5 Shop in 1950, Train Lighting took center stage. Skilled technicians worked tirelessly to illuminate trains with cutting-edge lighting systems that enhanced both safety and ambiance for passengers. Venturing into the c1930s brought us to No 21 Shop - Wagon Repairs and Building. This bustling workshop saw dedicated craftsmen breathe new life into wagons while also constructing sturdy new ones fit for any journey. At No 12 shop in1953 stood the Carpenters' Workshop - a haven for woodworking enthusiasts who crafted intricate pieces essential for every carriage's structure and design. No stranger to wagon repairs either, No 21 shop (c. 1950s) specialized solely in this art form – ensuring wagons remained roadworthy while preserving their historical charm. The rhythmic hum of machinery echoed through No1 Sawmill shop during both c1950s era as well as way back since its inception in1909. Here timber was transformed into fine components necessary for creating exquisite carriages or repairing existing ones. Stepping inside No9 Carriage Trimming shop (c1930s), you'd find skilled upholsterers meticulously crafting luxurious interiors that would cocoon passengers in comfort and opulence.
