Witness the rich history of Liverpool's Custom House through these captivating images. From the pillars of its portico in March 1935, to the intricate pattern of its cellars unearthed in the 1960s, the Custom House has stood as a symbol of the city's maritime heritage. Its grandeur was first captured in an engraving during the commencement of the Hull, Barnsley, and West Riding Railway and Dock in 1845. However, its fate was not always kind. Devastating fires and demolition attempts marked its later years, with the old building making way for redevelopment in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Yet, the Custom House continues to inspire, as evidenced by its striking 2009 restoration. Through these images, we pay tribute to the enduring legacy of this iconic Liverpool landmark.
