"George VI: A Royal Legacy and a Man of Many Titles" Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale, was born on June 3, 1864. Little did the world know that this young prince would later become King George VI, leaving an indelible mark on British history. In his coronation in 1937, King George VI held The Kings Orb and Sceptre with grace and dignity. These symbols of power showcased his commitment to serving his nation during challenging times. The year 1935 marked a significant milestone for the king as he celebrated King George V's Silver Jubilee. This event brought joy to the hearts of many loyal subjects who admired their monarch's dedication to duty. Westminster Abbey witnessed numerous historic moments, including the crowning of Queen consorts in 1937. It was here that Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon became Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother - a beloved figure known for her elegance and compassion. Beyond their royal duties, the family shared a love for dogs. In a heartwarming portrait by Michael Chance in 1937, we see the Royal Family as a happy group of dog lovers – united not only by blood but also by their affection for these faithful companions. The tranquil grounds of the Royal Lodge at Windsor provided solace for the family after World War II ended in 1946. Lisa Sheridan captured this peaceful moment where they could enjoy each other's company away from public scrutiny. Delving into history even further back, we find an intriguing reproduction depicting possibly one of England's first jigsaw puzzles – showcasing how pastimes have evolved over time while reminding us that even kings enjoyed leisure activities like puzzles. Transportation played its part too; Coronation Scot departing Watford Tunnel in 1940 symbolized progress amidst adversity – reflecting both resilience and determination during wartime challenges faced by Britain under George VI's reign. John Singer Sargent immortalized Prince Albert, Duke of York, in a stunning 1923 portrait.
