The Princess Victoria was an exquisite twin screw Thomas steamer commissioned by the esteemed River Fal Steamship Company in 1907. With her sleek design and graceful presence, she served as a vital mode of transport between Falmouth's Prince of Wales pier and Truro for many years. Locals and visitors alike would eagerly board this magnificent vessel to embark on their journeys along these enchanting Cornish waterways. However, fate had different plans for Princess Victoria when she was acquired by the Ministry of War Transport in 1942 during World War II. Sadly, she never returned to her beloved home on the River Fal. Through this timeless photograph captured by an unknown photographer, we are transported back to Edwardian times when life flowed peacefully along these idyllic creeks.
