In this evocative photograph, we find ourselves transported back in time to the historic racing scene at the Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England, during the 2022 Motor Racing Legends Silverstone GP event. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars is the focus of this forty-five minute race, which pays homage to the iconic tin tops that preceded the British Touring Car Championship. Andrew Sharp and Paul Auston share the driving duties of this magnificent Triumph 2000 Mk2, a classic saloon car that exudes nostalgia and racing heritage. The weather conditions add an extra layer of excitement to the event, as rain showers create challenging conditions for the drivers. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy is divided into five classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. Each class features pre-60 Touring Cars, pre-66 BMC A Series Touring Cars, pre-66 Historic Jaguar Touring Cars, pre-66 Over 2 Litre Touring Cars, and pre-66 Under 2 Litre Touring Cars. The option of a second driver and a compulsory pit-stop adds an element of strategy and teamwork to the race. In this panned shot, we see Andrew Sharp skillfully maneuvering the Triumph 2000 Mk2 through the wet and slippery track, while Paul Auston prepares for his stint behind the wheel. The adverse weather conditions only add to the entertainment value of this historic racing event, as the drivers push their classic cars to the limit. This photograph captures the essence of motor racing's rich history and the enduring appeal of classic cars. It is a testament to the passion and dedication of the Historic Racing Drivers Club and Historic Promotions in preserving and celebrating the legacy of motor sport.
