EATON HALL, Eaton, Cheshire. The fireplace and ornate mantlepiece in the saloon at Eaton Hall. Eaton Hall was remodelled in the Gothic style in 1870-1882 by Alfred Waterhouse for the Duke of Westminster. In 1963 the main part of the hall was demolished, and a new hall constructed. This print transports us back to the grandeur of Eaton Hall in 1887. The focal point of this image is undoubtedly the magnificent fireplace and ornate mantlepiece that graces the saloon. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, it exudes Victorian elegance and opulence. Eaton Hall, located in Eaton, Cheshire, underwent a remarkable transformation between 1870 and 1882 under the skilled hands of architect Alfred Waterhouse. Remodelled in the Gothic style, it became a testament to architectural brilliance during that era. Sadly, time has not been kind to Eaton Hall as we see it here. In 1963, most of its main structure was demolished and replaced by a new hall. However, some remnants were preserved for posterity - namely the chapel, clock tower, and stables.
