Government House is the official residence of the Governor General of Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario and has been home to every Governor General since 1867 and is a symbol of Canadian democracy and national identity. The building was designed by architect Thomas Seaton Scott and completed in 1889, and is a three-storey structure with an Italianate style, featuring large windows and balconies overlooking the Rideau Canal. Inside, there are numerous rooms including a grand ballroom, library, dining room, drawing room and study. It also serves as the venue for important state functions such as investitures and receptions for visiting dignitaries. As well as being an important part of Canada's history and heritage, it also offers tours to visitors who wish to learn more about its history or simply admire its beauty from within its walls.
