Horse Statue

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the iconic Boudicca statue, located on the Victoria Embankment in London. The statue, sculpted by Thomas Thornycroft in the 1850s, depicts Boudicca, the ancient queen of the Iceni tribe in Britain, and her two daughters, riding in a chariot drawn by horses. The intricate details of the bronze sculpture are beautifully captured in this image, with the powerful figure of Boudicca at the helm, her gaze fixed forward with determination and defiance. The horses, with their muscular forms and flowing manes, add to the sense of motion and energy. The setting, with the Thames River in the background and the embankment's gardens surrounding the statue, adds to the serene and picturesque atmosphere. Listed as a Grade II* historic monument with the number 1237737 by Historic England, this statue is a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of London and Britain. The photograph, taken by J J Samuels Limited between 1900 and 1930, provides a unique and timeless perspective of this beloved work of art.
