1940s Gateway National Trust Post Medieval Watermill Castle Grounds Water Mill

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the enchanting Dunster Castle Mill, a picturesque 18th-century water mill nestled within the stunning Dunster Park in West Somerset. The mill, which underwent reconstruction between 1779 and 1782, stands proudly as a testament to the region's rich history. With its two-storey structure adorned with charming attics, this architectural gem exudes timeless elegance. Adjacent to the mill lies a magnificent gateway that adds an air of grandeur to the scene. This gateway is seamlessly attached to the wall from which the water mill gracefully protrudes. The gateway itself boasts a rustic rubble wall construction and features a striking pointed arch opening. Beneath this arch rests iron gates that hint at tales of bygone eras and invite visitors into this magical realm. Today, these historic grounds are lovingly maintained by the National Trust, ensuring their preservation for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. As you gaze upon this remarkable image captured by E M Booty in the 1940s, you can't help but be transported back in time - where whispers of centuries past echo through every stone. This print serves as both a visual delight and an invitation to explore Dunster Castle Mill's fascinating heritage within its idyllic surroundings.
