EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a detailed view of the Roman Altar a42_02012, believed to be located in or near the enchanting grounds of Myddleton Lodge in Middleton, Ilkley, Bradford. Standing at an impressive height of approximately 4 feet and 10 inches, this altar is dedicated to Verbeia, the pagan nymph associated with the majestic River Wharfe. The intricate scrollwork and exquisite carving on this ancient artifact are truly awe-inspiring. It serves as a testament to the remarkable craftsmanship of its creators and offers us a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Roman times. The altar's significance lies not only in its religious dedication but also in its historical value as it symbolizes the enduring connection between humans and nature.
