EDITORS COMMENTS

This photograph, taken by Paul Barkshire on the 12th of June, 1994, showcases the iconic Catford Cat sculpture located at the entrance of the Catford Centre in London. The Catford Centre is situated between numbers 154 and 158 Rushey Green, in the heart of Catford. The Catford Cat, a giant fibreglass sculpture, is a beloved landmark that has graced the area since its installation in 1965. The cat's playful expression and imposing size have made it a favourite among locals and visitors alike. The sculpture's vibrant orange and black colour scheme stands out against the backdrop of the urban landscape, adding a touch of whimsy and charm to the surroundings. In this photograph, a red car is parked in front of the Catford Cat, creating an interesting juxtaposition between the modern vehicle and the timeless sculpture. The car's reflection in the polished fibreglass surface of the cat adds an intriguing depth to the image. This photograph not only captures the essence of the Catford Cat as a beloved community icon but also highlights the unique character of the area. The Catford Cat remains a testament to the creativity and vision of its creators, and continues to be a source of delight and inspiration for all who encounter it.
