A Laing Midlands Region team started work in December 1981 on a contract of refurbishments to part of the Land Rover Factory in Solihull. Work in two factory blocks was carried out and a wide range of new facilities had to be installed including inspection areas, rolling roads, rectification areas for paint and a waxing area. During the refurbishment programme, building entrances were enlarged to allow access for large plant, roof steelwork was strengthened and a bailey bridge was constructed between the two buildings
