General view of the coal staith at Blyth Power Station, Bedlington, Northumberland. View from the north west, with the frame of a coal barge in the foreground. Coal staithes allowed coal arriving by railway to be dropped from wagons directly into ships, without having to use smaller vessels, or keels'. This one was built between 1910 and 1923. Photographed in 1992
