Stott Park Bobbin Mill N140030
STOTT PARK BOBBIN MILL, Cumbria. General view lit at twilight. This fully-working mill is a unique survivor of the many Lakeland mills which turned bobbins for the Lancashire textile industry. Using timber coppiced from the surrounding woodlands, it operated commercially from 1835 until 1971, diversifying into products from cotton reels to rungs for naval rope ladders and toggles for Second World War duffel coats. Nestled in Cumbria, this remarkable mill stands as a testament to the once-thriving Lancashire textile industry. With its fully operational machinery and rich history, it is a true survivor among the many mills that dotted the picturesque Lakeland landscape. Dating back to 1835, this industrial marvel utilized timber sourced from surrounding woodlands for its bobbin production. From cotton reels to rungs for naval rope ladders and toggles for Second World War duffel coats, Stott Park Bobbin Mill diversified its offerings over time. The chimney rises high into the darkening sky, symbolizing both progress and an era long gone - a reminder of Britain's industrial revolution. As night falls upon this historic site, floodlights cast an ethereal glow on every corner of the mill.
