This evocative photograph, taken by G B Mason in 1946, captures a moment of simple joy and innocence in the lives of children growing up in Warwick, Warwickshire during the post-war era. The image was captured in the yard behind terraced housing on Bowling Green Street, where the youngsters have gathered for a playful photo session. The children, dressed in clothing typical of the time, pose enthusiastically for the camera, some peeking out from behind the washing that hangs on the line, while others strike playful poses.
