It took its name from the Royal Scots Regiment, the pipe and drum band of which marched past the hotel as part of the opening ceremony. When it opened, the hotel had just fewer than 350 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, as well as a restaurant, coffee shop, cocktail bar and lounge bar, a functions suite, and car park. The image showcases the Royal Scots Regiment pipe and drum band marching proudly on Kings Cross Road outside the newly opened Royal Scot Hotel. The construction of this magnificent seven-storey hotel began in 1970 at Percy Circus, and after two years of hard work, it was ready to be unveiled to the world. On 14th November 1972, with great fanfare and celebration, the hotel officially opened its doors to guests.
