This print takes us back in time to the early 1900s, where a group of people are seen delighting in a pleasure ride along the picturesque Thames River. The steam-powered boat they are aboard, known as The Fashion, exudes an air of elegance and sophistication that was characteristic of Edwardian leisure activities. As we gaze at this snapshot frozen in time, our eyes are drawn to Cleeve Lock standing proudly in the background. This lock served as a gateway between Goring and Oxfordshire, allowing boats like The Fashion to navigate through different sections of the river with ease. Adjacent to the lock stands a charming cottage which belonged to the dedicated lock keepers responsible for maintaining order on these bustling waterways.
