The photograph shows the front of the station with part of the viaduct visible behind. The station was opened by the West Cornwall Railway on 11th March 1852 when it replaced the original Hayle Railway terminus, located in what is now the Isis RNLI Memorial Gardens. This print captures the West Cornwall Railway Station at Hayle, Cornwall, transporting us back to the early 1930s. The station stands proudly in the foreground, its charming architecture a testament to a bygone era of travel. Behind it, we catch a glimpse of the magnificent viaduct that stretches across the landscape, an engineering marvel connecting distant destinations. Originally opened on March 11th, 1852 by the West Cornwall Railway company, this station replaced its predecessor located in what is now known as the Isis RNLI Memorial Gardens. Serving as a vital link for mining communities and railway enthusiasts alike, this historic hub witnessed countless journeys filled with excitement and anticipation. Sadly, this beloved landmark met its demise shortly after World War II in 1947 when it was demolished.
