EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to Lambourn Station, circa 1910. Located in the picturesque West Berkshire, Lambourn Station was a bustling hub on the Lambourn Valley Railway. The station building stands proudly, exuding an air of nostalgia and charm. In its heyday, this railway station boasted a busy goods yard that played a vital role in transporting various commodities across the region. From crates filled with fresh produce to parcels brimming with everyday essentials, Lambourn Station served as a lifeline for local businesses and communities alike. As we gaze upon this snapshot from history, we can almost hear the rhythmic chugging of steam engines and feel the excitement that once permeated these platforms. Passengers would have eagerly awaited their trains while bidding farewell or welcoming loved ones home. Sadly, like many other branch lines during that era of change, Lambourn Station ceased passenger operations in 1960. However, through photographs such as this one preserved at STEAM Museum of the GWR (Great Western Railway), we are able to relive moments frozen in time and appreciate the significance of our railway heritage. Let this image transport you back over a century ago when Lambourn Station stood as an emblematic landmark connecting people and places throughout West Berkshire's beautiful countryside.
