December 8, 2013 - A 360 degree panorama taken in the pre-dawn hours from the Painted Pony Resort in southwest New Mexico. Visible in this image, from left to right: Arcturus just on the treetop. The zodiacal light rising up from the east. Red Mars embedded in the zodiacal light below Leo. The Milky Way from Puppis and Canis Major at left arching up and across the sky down into Perseus at right. Sirius the brightest star. Orion setting over the main house. Jupiter, the bright object at top centre in Gemini. Aldebaran and the Pleiades setting right of the main house in Taurus. Polaris over the smaller house at right. The Big Dipper pointing to Polaris at upper right. A green glow along the northern horizon above the smaller house that may be some aurora (there was a good display this night from northern latitudes) or may be intense airglow. Green and red bands throughout the sky are airglow. Bands of high cloud also permeate the sky adding natural glows around the stars

Taken on December 8,2013, during the pre-dawn hours from the Painted Pony Resort, this stunning 360-degree panorama showcases a multitude of celestial wonders. From left to right, we can see Arcturus perched just above the treetops, while the zodiacal light gracefully rises from the east. Red Mars is embedded within this ethereal glow below Leo. The Milky Way stretches across the sky like a luminous arch, starting from Puppis and Canis Major on the left and descending into Perseus on the right. The brightest star in our night sky, Sirius, shines brilliantly amidst this cosmic spectacle. Orion bids farewell as it sets over the main house while Jupiter gleams at top center in Gemini. Aldebaran and the Pleiades make their descent to Taurus's right side near the main house. Polaris stands proudly over a smaller house on its right side as if guiding us through this celestial journey. The Big Dipper points towards Polaris at upper right with unwavering precision. A captivating green glow illuminates along northern horizon above that smaller house - possibly an aurora or intense airglow phenomenon witnessed by fortunate observers further north. Throughout this awe-inspiring scene are vibrant bands of green and red airglow complemented by wisps of high clouds that add natural glows around each radiant star.
