The image showcases a remarkable reconstruction drawing of the North Gate, meticulously crafted by Philip Corke, which offers a glimpse into this ancient Roman stronghold during its glory days in the 2nd century AD. The intricate details and expert artistry evident in this graphic representation transport us to an era where legions of soldiers once guarded this strategic frontier outpost. As we gaze upon the print, we can almost hear the echoes of marching footsteps and feel the weight of history that permeates through these stone walls. The North Gate depicted here was not only an entrance but also a symbol of power and authority.
