Subtle mane
A minimilistic portrait of a lion in monochrome. I took this photograph in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park on the South Africa/Botswana border. I photographed from a low level with scrub and grass surrounding the lion. Only the head and eyes are in focus as the main focal point. The blurry focus created a soft backdrop for the lion in the foreground. In Adobe Lightroom 6 I cropped and removed dust spots. I corrected the profile and corrected the white/black values to the natural scene. Highlights decreased by 20%, shadows increased by 30%. I converted to monochrome using Silver Efex Pro by NIK. Contrast was lifted slightly by 20%. Back in Lightroom 6, I increased the global sharpening slightly by 10%.. Jaco Marx
