16th October 2022, Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire, England: The roar of engines echoed through the crisp autumn air as the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) Classic Formula Ford Championship took to the iconic Silverstone circuit for its final event of the season. Among the grid of 1600cc Formula Ford racing cars, built and raced before 1982, was the striking Royale RP26 driven by Richard Tarling. Split into two classes, Class A for cars that raced from 1974 to 1981, and Class B for those that competed up to the end of 1973, the twenty-minute race promised an exciting display of contemporary and vintage open-wheelers. Richard Tarling, huddled in his race suit, focused intently on the starting grid as the countdown began. The crowd, a sea of motorsport enthusiasts, held their breath in anticipation. The green flag waved, and the field surged forward, the sound of revving engines filling the air.
