16th October 2022, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, Northamptonshire, England: The roar of engines echoed through the crisp autumn air as the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) Silverstone Finals commenced, marking the conclusion of the HSCC Historic Touring Car Championship in association with Ecurie Classic. This thrilling event brought together a diverse array of racing machines, spanning from the late 1940s to 1969, with engine capacities ranging from sub-1150cc four-pots to mighty multi-litre V8s. Among the grid was Martin Pratt and his iconic Lotus 7, a nimble and agile pre-war sports car that held its own against the more powerful GT and tin-top competitors. The 20-minute race was a spectacle of motor sport nostalgia, with separate classes combined into the one exhilarating event. The sun began to set over Silverstone as the drivers put their classic machines through their paces, each vying for victory in their respective categories. The Historic Touring Cars, Pre-66 Club Racing GT, and Production Sports Cars all battled it out on the hallowed circuit, their Dunlop tyres screeching in protest as they navigated the twists and turns of the track. Martin Pratt, at the wheel of his Lotus 7, expertly manoeuvred his way through the field, showcasing the car's inherent agility and handling prowess. The FIA Appendix K regulations ensured a level playing field for all competitors, allowing for a thrilling and fair race. As the chequered flag waved, Martin Pratt crossed the finish line, his Lotus 7 a testament to the enduring spirit of motor racing. The HSCC Historic Touring Car Championship with Ecurie Classic at Silverstone was a fitting end to the motorsport season, a celebration of the past, present, and future of classic racing cars.
