16th October 2022, Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England: The roar of engines echoed through the picturesque English countryside as the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) Historic Touring Car Championship with Ecurie Classic came to a thrilling close at the Silverstone Finals. In this 20-minute race, a diverse grid of iconic racing cars from different eras took to the renowned Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. Among the grid was the BMW 1800Ti driven by Harry Barton, captured here in a stunning panned shot by Chris McEvoy of Motorsport Collections. The race saw several classifications combined into one, with a multitude of separate classes catering to a wide range of engine capacities. From the small four-pot engines below 1150cc to the powerful multi-litre V8s, these classic machines dated back to around 1947 up to 1969. The GT cars, including Harry Barton's BMW 1800Ti, added an extra layer of excitement to the race. Drivers battled it out on the circuit, their tin-topped production sports cars weaving in and out of each other, creating a mesmerizing spectacle for the crowds. The race was open to various classes, including Production GT cars and Pre-66 Club Racing GTs. As the cars raced around the circuit, they were supported by Dunlop Tyres, ensuring their performance remained at the highest level. The event was governed by FIA Appendix K regulations, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the historic motorsport experience. With the sun setting over the Silverstone circuit, the tension in the air was palpable as the final laps approached. Harry Barton and his BMW 1800Ti fought valiantly, leaving a trail of nostalgia and speed in their wake. The classic cars, their engines roaring, evoked a sense of retro charm and motorsport history that will live on for generations to come.
