EDITORS COMMENTS
Amidst the autumnal hues of Towcester, Northamptonshire, the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) brought together an enthralling display of motorsport heritage at the Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit for the 2022 HRDJ Jack Sears Trophy. This forty-five minute race, open to pre-60 Touring Cars, pre-66 BMC A Series Touring Cars, pre-66 Historic Jaguar Touring Cars, pre-66 Over 2 Litre Touring Cars, and pre-66 Under 2 Litre Touring Cars, harked back to an era of tin tops and spray. Tom Sharp's pristine Ford Falcon CJ12 3800, adorned with the iconic #28, stood out amongst the grid. The forty-five minute race, with the option of a second driver and a compulsory pit-stop, saw the cars battle it out in five classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. The rain-soaked track added an extra layer of challenge to the event, testing the mettle of both drivers and machines. As the race commenced, Tom Sharp expertly navigated the slippery conditions, his Falcon slicing through the spray. The Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears classes each vied for supremacy, their drivers demonstrating skill and determination. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy, a nod to the legendary British Touring Car Championship events of 1958-1966, provided an unforgettable spectacle of classic racing cars, each with their unique stories and histories. The event, part of the Motorsport Collections and Motor Racing Legends Silverstone GP 22nd-23rd October, was a testament to the enduring allure of motorsport's past. As the rain continued to fall, the drivers and their machines persevered, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and entertainment. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy was more than just a race; it was a celebration of motor racing legends and their iconic cars.
