EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, we find Grant Williams and Peter Snowden at the wheel of the iconic Jaguar Mk2 during the HRDC Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars race at the Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England. The forty-five minute race, which took place in October 2022, was a thrilling event that featured cars that preceded the British Touring Car Championship. With the option of a second driver and a compulsory pit-stop, the results were divided into five classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. The weather conditions added an extra layer of challenge to the race, as the drivers navigated the circuit in adverse weather. The Jaguar Mk2, a classic tin top, held its own against the other pre-60 touring cars, pre-66 BMC A Series touring cars, pre-66 historic Jaguar touring cars, pre-66 over 2 litre touring cars, and pre-66 under 2 litre touring cars. Grant Williams and Peter Snowdon worked in perfect harmony, expertly maneuvering the Jaguar through the rain-soaked corners. In this panned shot, we see Grant Williams at the wheel, focused intently on the track ahead. The rain-spattered windshield and the misted-over side window add to the sense of nostalgia and retro charm. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy is a testament to the enduring legacy of motor racing and the iconic cars that have defined its history. This race was a celebration of motor sport, speed, and entertainment, drawing crowds of enthusiasts and motorsport legends to Silverstone GP 22nd-23rd October 2022. This photograph, taken by Chris McEvoy of CJM Photography, captures the essence of classic motor racing and the timeless allure of these historic cars. It is a reminder of the rich history of motor racing and the thrill of the sport that continues to captivate generations of fans.
