EDITORS COMMENTS
Amidst the autumnal hues of Towcester, Northamptonshire, the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) brought back the thrilling era of pre-60s and pre-66 touring cars with the Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars. In this forty-five minute race, drivers battled it out in various classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. Amongst the iconic cars gracing the Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit was Dan Lewis' Austin Mini Cooper S (CJ12 3896), a tin-top legend that preceded the British Touring Car Championship events. The rain-soaked track added an extra layer of challenge to the race, making for an adrenaline-pumping spectacle. Dan, with the option of a second driver, skillfully maneuvered his Mini Cooper S through the puddles, leaving a trail of spray in his wake. The compulsory pit-stop added an element of strategy, as drivers and teams worked together to ensure the best possible outcome. The Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears classes featured a diverse range of cars, from pre-60 historic Jaguars and pre-66 BMC A Series Touring Cars to pre-66 Over 2 Litre and Under 2 Litre Touring Cars. The panned shot of Dan Lewis' Austin Mini Cooper S captures the essence of retro motor racing, as the cars roar around the circuit, leaving behind a trail of nostalgia and speed. The Jack Sears Trophy at Silverstone GP 2022, presented by Historic Promotions, was a testament to the enduring allure of classic motor racing. With its rich history and exciting competition, this event showcased the very best of motor sport, providing entertainment for both the drivers and the spectators alike.
