EDITORS COMMENTS
In the heart of England's Northamptonshire countryside, the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) brought together an enthralling display of classic touring cars for the Jack Sears Trophy race at the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit, Towcester. Among the grid was the striking Alfa Romeo Sprint GT, driven by the talented duo of David Alexander and Richard Fores. The forty-five minute race, which featured cars that preceded the British Touring Car Championship events, saw five classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. The weather took a turn for the worse, adding an extra layer of challenge to the competition. The Alfa Romeo Sprint GT, a pre-60 touring car, was a sight to behold as it navigated the wet and slippery track. The option of a second driver, as well as a compulsory pit-stop, added tension and excitement to the race. David Alexander took the initial stint behind the wheel, expertly maneuvering the Alfa Romeo through the adverse conditions. The panned shot captures the moment as the car roars past the pit lane, the rain-soaked circuit reflecting the brilliance of its iconic red and white livery. Richard Fores then took over, continuing the charge in the rain-soaked race. The competition was fierce, with the Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears classes all vying for the top spot. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars provided a thrilling display of tin tops, featuring pre-60 touring cars, pre-66 BMC A Series touring cars, pre-66 historic Jaguar touring cars, pre-66 over 2 litre touring cars, and pre-66 under 2 litre touring cars. The event was a nostalgic journey through motor racing history, offering a unique blend of entertainment and motorsport nostalgia. CJM Photography captured this pivotal moment in the race, a testament to the passion and dedication of the drivers and the enduring appeal of these classic racing cars.
