During the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859) the fusiliers were part of Sir Henry Havelocks Lucknow relief column. They had already fought at Benares, Allahabad and Cawnpore, before advancing into Oudh. The image, captured by an anonymous British School artist from the 19th century, is housed in the National Army Museum in London. The drum holds historical significance as it symbolizes the bravery and resilience of these soldiers during the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859). As part of Sir Henry Havelock's relief column, they had already fought valiantly at Benares, Allahabad, and Cawnpore before venturing into Oudh.
