EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a Bearskin badge dating back to 1869-81. Crafted from gilt metal, this exquisite piece of art is currently housed in the National Army Museum in London. The badge features a ball of flaming grenade made of gilt metal, with intricate relief designs that immediately catch the eye. Within a laurel wreath entwined with scrolls bearing various battle honors such as Mooltan, Plassey, Kirkee, and more, lies a garter displaying the title "Royal Bombay Fusiliers". Emblazoned on the garter is the numeral "103" symbolizing its association with the 103rd Regiment of Foot. Above the garter sits an elegant monarchial crown, adding an air of regality to this remarkable artifact. To the right side rests a tiger statant gardant upon a tablet inscribed with another battle honor - Buxar. On the left side stands an elephant statant upon yet another tablet bearing the name Mysore. This Bearskin badge holds historical significance as it represents several wars including Seven Years War (1756-1763), 1st Maratha War (1778-1782), and 2nd Sikh War (1848-1849). It serves as one of five items associated specifically with Royal Bombay Fusiliers during their tenure from 1862 to 1881. Preserved through time and now immortalized in this stunning print by Bridgeman Images for Fine Art Finder, this Bearskin badge offers us a glimpse into military history and reminds us of bravery and valor exhibited by those who served.
