Among them are Lieutenant Richard Wolfe of the Royal Irish, Lieutenant James Dunbar Guthrie of the Dragoon Guards, Captain Joseph Watkins William Darley of the Royal Horse Artillery, Major Walter Hyde Atherton of the Royal Scots Greys, and Lieutenant Rudolph E Delisle. Notably included are also journalists such as Mr St Leger Algernon Herbert from The Morning Post and Mr J. A. Cameron from The Standard. Their presence highlights how reporters risked their lives alongside soldiers to bring news from distant battlefields. These men met their fates during recent battles that took place on January 17th and 19th at Abu Klea Wells and Gubat respectively.
