EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a stunning Vase, dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century. Crafted by the German School, this exquisite piece of art is currently housed in The Geffrye Museum of the Home in London, UK. The vase itself is made from glazed earthenware and features an eye-catching design of irises painted in vibrant shades of magenta, mustard yellow, and dark violet. Gilt accents add a touch of elegance to three flowerheads on one side of the vase as well as around its foot. Manufactured by Franz A. Mehlem in Bonn, Germany, this vase also boasts an electroplated nickel silver collar, lid with a finial, and a semi-circular curved handle with a central twist. The reverse side of the lid bears the stamp "E. P. N. S" indicating its electroplated nature. With its globular ribbed body and meticulous attention to detail, this vase represents both artistic mastery and technical craftsmanship. Its base is marked with a printed castle shape containing the initials "A" along with "BONN" written beneath it. Additionally, blue-painted numbers - 5873 5699 16 - further enhance its uniqueness. This print allows us to appreciate not only the beauty but also the historical significance behind this remarkable work of art that seamlessly combines different materials and techniques from various countries during that era.
