The Exeter Exchange zoo was renowned for its diverse collection of animals, and it was here that Mr. Gilbert Pidcock acquired a pair of kangaroos all the way from Port Jackson, New South Wales. These possibly red kangaroos, known scientifically as Osphranter rufus, became part of Pidcock's menagerie which operated from 1773 to 1829.
