Su Wu was dispatched upon a mission of peace to the Huns in the year 100 BC, his business being to escort home some Hun envoys who had been imprisoned by the Chinese. While at the Court of the Khan an attempt was made to induce him to enter the service of the Huns, but rather than do so he tried to commit suicide, and wounded himself severely.
