A half leather bound album with the binding broken at the spine and many of the leaves loose, containing 329 albumen prints of various sizes including carte de visites. The album documents the early career of paymaster, Frederick North between 1864 - circa 1876 including his time onboard HMS Nassau (1866), consisting of portraits of friends, family and colleagues, ship portraits including: Barrosa (1860), Conqueror (1855), Edgar (1858), Hercules (1868), Japan, Liffey (1860), Nassau (1866), Rattesnake (1861), and topographical photographs, including: Bahia, Ballarat, Burma, Melbourne, Montevideo, New Zealand, Penang, Rio de Janeiro, Sierra Leone, Simonstown and the Cape, Suez Canal, Sumatra, Sydney.
