This print showcases the Sala Baglione, also known as the Hall of Grotesque, located in Rocca Meli Lupi, Soragna, Parma, Italy. The intricate detail captured in this image is a testament to the artistic genius of Cesare Baglione, a renowned painter from Cremona during the 16th century. The Sala Baglione gets its name from being adorned with fascinating frescoes depicting grotesques - a unique style inspired by Pompeian decorations. These frescoes have been remarkably preserved and are particularly intriguing due to their originality and artistic expression. At the center of the vaulted ceiling lies the coat of arms belonging to both Farnese and the Dukes of Parma and Piacenza. Additionally, skillfully crafted landscapes can be observed on lunettes throughout the room.
