The Jagdalak Pass, situated between Kabul and Jalalabad, cuts through the Hindu Kush mountain range. During the 1st (1839-1842) Afghan War it was the scene of heavy fighting when the remnants of General Elphinstones army were finally overwhelmed during the Retreat from Kabul.
