This coloured lithograph depicts Phoenix, a screw steamer (converted from a paddle steamer in 1844-1845), in port broadside view, attempting to tow two sailing vessels, the Diligence and Breadalbane, which have broken free in the heavy sea. Several large icebergs are visible in the background.
