EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite print captures the beauty and elegance of Twelve Lenox Porcelain Gold-Ground Monogrammed Botanical Place Plates from c.1906. Each plate is meticulously painted with a different orchid specimen, named in Latin on the underside, making them not only visually stunning but also botanically educational.
The wide border of each plate is acid-etched with delicate gingko leaves and stylized vines, adding a touch of sophistication to the design. The monogram CGR is prominently featured on each plate, giving them a personalized touch.
These plates were clearly treasured possessions, as eleven are inscribed with Trenton N.J. Dec. 25th 1906 and the twelfth is inscribed for 1910. The footrim is gilt, adding a luxurious finish to these already opulent pieces.
Signed by W.H. Morley and bearing green printed marks, these plates are not just functional objects but works of art in their own right. They represent the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail that was characteristic of early twentieth-century decorative arts.
This print allows us to admire these stunning pieces up close and appreciate the intricate details that make them truly special additions to any collection or table setting.
