12 August: A Day of Significant Historical Moments - Chums engaged in the colorful tradition of Grouse shooting, as depicted in this charming lithograph. Captain J. G. Goodenough, RN, CB, graced the occasion with his presence. Elsewhere, Hampden Park in Eastbourne opened its doors for the first time, welcomed by none other than Lord Rosebery. The Drive by the Lake added to its picturesque beauty. Meanwhile, in Penmaenmawr, the Gladstone Statue was unveiled, an engraving capturing the moment for posterity. The thrill of the hunt continued in an 1876 engraving, showcasing a Grouse Shooting scene. Post-Coronation, the King and Queen granted reviews and decorations, as seen in this black and white photograph. Preparations for the "Twelfth" were underway, as depicted in another engraving. Historical milestones continued with the Annexation of Hawaii, symbolized by the hoisting of the American Flag at Honolulu. Lastly, an Ambassador's audience with the Grand Vizier in his Yali on the Bosporus was immortalized in this engraving.
