The 1789 French Revolution was a time of immense change and upheaval in France. It marked the beginning of a new era, as the people rose up against their oppressive monarchy and demanded liberty, equality, and fraternity. One iconic image from this period is "No Sir, I've Never Been afraid of a sans culotte. " This colorful lithograph captures the spirit of defiance that characterized the revolutionaries. They were not afraid to stand up for their rights and challenge those in power. Another significant figure during this time was Marshal Jean-Baptiste-Jules Bernadotte, who later became Charles XIV of Sweden. An engraving depicting him showcases his military prowess and highlights his role in shaping Europe's political landscape. The storming of the Bastille is perhaps one of the most well-known events from this period. An oil painting titled "The storming of the Bastille and the arrest of M.
