In the golden era of steam locomotives, the numbers 2 8 0 held a special significance. These digits represented power, elegance, and the epitome of engineering marvels on rails. One such masterpiece was the iconic 47xx class locomotive, No. 4707, proudly standing tall at Stoke Gifford in the year 1960. Its majestic presence commanded attention as it effortlessly glided along the tracks, pulling carriages filled with eager passengers. Not far behind was its sibling, No. 4704 - another member of the revered 47xx class locomotive family. With its sleek design and formidable strength, it traversed through landscapes with grace and determination. But let's not forget about No. 4700; this particular engine made heads turn wherever it went. As part of the esteemed 47xx class locomotive series too, it exemplified excellence in every aspect - from its robust build to its smooth operation. Meanwhile, there were other notable players in this symphony of steam power. The resolute yet nimble-footed tank engines like No. 5211 and No. 4250 showcased their capabilities as they maneuvered through tight corners and conquered challenging terrains effortlessly. The enchanting trio comprising Nos. 5261, 5260, and5262 belonged to another distinguished group: The mighty42xx tank locomotives that left an indelible mark on railway history with their versatility and reliability. And then we have No. 4702 – captured here at an engine shed (possibly Old Oak Common), emanating an air of mystery as if holding untold tales within its metal frame. Traveling across continents brought us face-to-face with yet another legend – US tender locomotive No1604 stationed at Paddington Station in1942. It stood as a symbol of resilience during wartime struggles while showcasing American engineering prowess abroad. Lastly but certainly not least is our beloved companion, No.
