"Exploring the Riches of the 8th Century: From Storage Jars to Patronage of Scholars" In this fascinating glimpse into the 8th century, we encounter a diverse range of artifacts and historical figures that shaped this era. First, we have a storage jar from the 8th-9th century AD, crafted from earthenware. This humble object offers us insight into daily life and domestic practices during this period. Moving on, we come across Emperor Charlemagne visiting a school. Known for his keen interest in education and learning, he is revered as the patron of schools. His dedication to scholarship left an indelible mark on history. Next up is an engraving depicting a Frankish chief and soldier from the 8th century. This artwork transports us back to a time when bravery and loyalty were highly valued qualities among warriors. A wall panel catches our attention next; it showcases Na-Bolon-K'an in ritual dress dating back to around 790 AD. The intricate craftsmanship using limestone, stucco, and paint reveals religious practices prevalent during this epoch. An Anglo-Saxon king accompanied by his equerry engaged in battle comes alive through another engraving from 1796. It reminds us of the turbulent times filled with conflicts that defined much of medieval Europe. We then stumble upon a spherical bead adorned with four glyphs made from jadeite between 200-800 AD. Its exquisite beauty hints at ancient cultures' mastery over artistry even centuries ago. Charlemagne himself makes another appearance through an engraving created in 1796 which captures his regal presence as King of Franks - an influential figure whose reign significantly impacted European history. The Battle of Poitiers takes center stage next; depicted in an oil painting from the 1830s on pulp board, it commemorates Charles Martel's victory against Muslim forces in October 732 CE – marking a turning point in European history.
