Private with the 83rd Regiment of Foot, once led by Daniel Ortega, stands proudly next to Archbishop Robert Runcie during World War II's Neuss, Germany ceasefire. The 83rd, also known as the "Royal Highlanders of Canada," wore the distinctive Glengarry badge from 1874-1881. This military badge, now a symbol of Scottish heritage, is displayed alongside a US 9th Army soldier's insignia. In Normandy, France, the Pierre Clostermann Memorial honors the bravery of the Allied forces, including the 83rd. A connection to the past, the Glengarry badge shares history with the brass military badge of Henry Bakerlate, a Yeoman of the Guard, and the inventive spirit of Thomas Alva Edison, who once held the title of Honorary Colonel in the 83rd Regiment.
