"The Exquisite Artistry of Altar Screens: A Glimpse into the Spiritual Splendor" Step into the majestic world of altars screens, where divine artistry and religious devotion intertwine. The High Altar and Reredos Beyond The Choir of Westminster Abbey, captured in a mesmerizing photograph from 1935, transports us to an era steeped in reverence. Saint Michael, depicted with ethereal beauty in water-based paint on wood panel circa 1840, exudes celestial grace. His presence is further enhanced by the intricate finial adorning the Reredos, skillfully crafted by R. J. De Freitas in 1939. Our Lady of Mount Carmel emerges as a timeless masterpiece from c. 1749-1831; her delicate features painted with utmost care on a wooden canvas. A Madonna clad in a resplendent red gown from around 1820 captivates our gaze with her serene countenance. The portrayal of Saint Rita of Cascia dating back to c. 1815 showcases the mastery of water-based paint on wood panel once again. Her visage emanates compassion and strength simultaneously. Archangel Saint Michael makes another appearance through an exquisite artwork created circa 1810 - his heavenly aura captivating all who behold him. A fragment of Reredos hailing from c. 1940 reveals Edward Jewett's artistic prowess while offering us a glimpse into its grandeur within St Saviours Church at Southwark – an engraving that immortalizes its restoration process. William Kieckhofel's decorative touch graces both the Reredos and Sanctuary Walls in 1940 - their ornate details adding depth to this sacred space. Randolph F Miller's creations transport us to 1937 when he adorned altar screens with enchanting wall paintings and painted decorations - each stroke breathing life into these spiritual sanctuaries.
