"Legends of Banditry: From Ned Kelly's Last Stand to The Wild Bunch" Step into the thrilling world of bandits and outlaws as we explore their daring escapades throughout history. In the late 19th century, Australia witnessed the infamous Ned Kelly, a bushranger whose last stand became an enduring symbol of rebellion against authority. Across the ocean, in America, another notorious gang emerged - The Wild Bunch. Led by Butch Cassidy, these audacious bank and train robbers struck fear into the hearts of many during their reign in 1901. Salvatore Giuliano, a name that echoes through time as one of Sicily's most enigmatic bandits. His cunning tactics and bold heists left authorities baffled and captivated imaginations alike. Traveling back further in time, we encounter Russell: Stage Robber. With his shotgun pointed menacingly at stagecoaches, this outlaw was depicted by Charles M. Russell with a treasure box as his prize and a fallen messenger left behind. Venturing into New York City's dark underbelly, Jacob Riis captured an alley known as Bandits Roost on Mulberry Street in 1887. A haunting photograph that reveals glimpses of illicit activities lurking within its shadows. No discussion about bandits would be complete without mentioning William H. Bonney or better known as Billy the Kid - an American desperado who wielded his Model Winchester 73 rifle with deadly precision during his short but impactful life. The image of Pancho Villa astride his horse evokes thoughts of revolutionaries turned bandits; a figure both feared and revered for challenging authority in Mexico during tumultuous times. Belle Starr emerges from history as one of few female bandits to carve her own path amidst male-dominated criminal circles in the C19th era – her story shrouded in mystery yet captivating minds till this day.
