The Basilika, a Protestant church with a rich history, stands as a testament to resilience and faith. Originally built in 1238 as a three-nave Romanesque basilica with a majestic west tower, it faced destruction during the Turkish Wars. However, its spirit could not be extinguished, and it was rebuilt in the Gothic style around 1500 as a fortified church. Located in Alba Iulia, Balgrad (also known as German Karlsburg), the Basilika holds significant religious importance for both the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Cathedral. Serving as the gate tower of the Coronation Cathedral of the Romanian Orthodox Church, it symbolizes unity among different denominations. Alba Iulia itself is an enchanting city nestled in Transylvania, Romania's historic region. With its captivating architecture and cultural heritage, this capital of Alba County attracts visitors from far and wide. In Cluj, another Transylvanian gem lies at Piata Avram Iancu –the Orthodox Cathedral surrounded by statues honoring Avram Iancu himself. This place exudes tranquility while showcasing remarkable architectural beauty. Venturing further into Maramaris brings us to Plopis Wooden Church -a UNESCO World Heritage Site constructed back in 1798. Its intricate wooden design showcases traditional craftsmanship that has stood against time. Sighisoara unveils yet another treasure: The Orthodox Trinity Cathedral or Sfanta Treime. Located within Saxoburgum in Mures County, this cathedral emanates spiritual serenity amidst historical surroundings. Beyond Romania's borders lie other notable basilicas worth mentioning; such as St. Salvator Cathedral at Fulda in Hesse Germany or The Basilica of Fourteen Saints near Bad Staffelstein, Bavaria Germany- dedicated to Holy Fourteen Helpers who provide solace to those seeking aid. Lastly but not leastly we find ourselves standing before Foggia's Cattedrale Di Foggia in Puglia, Italy.
