Here is a possible caption: The Venerable Bede, also known as Thomas Saint Beckett, was an English priest and Archbishop of Canterbury who lived in the 12th century. Born around 1118 AD, he became one of the most influential figures in medieval England. As Chancellor to King Henry II before becoming Archbishop, Becket played a key role in shaping British politics during this period. However, his loyalty to the king eventually turned into opposition when he discovered that Henry was planning to take away some of his powers as Archbishop. This led to a series of dramatic events culminating in Beckett's murder on December 29, 1170 AD at Canterbury Cathedral by four knights acting under royal orders. His martyrdom sparked widespread outrage and ultimately contributed to the English Reformation.
